Shenseeas Act Of Ubuntu

Charity begins at home. And I would also like to lament the comments made by dancehall’s Dovey Magnum for her recent comment that well established affluent artists need to be more charitable.

Dovey Magnum’s comments came after she lavished fellow artist Shenseea with praise after she came back from America with 100 Amazon Kindle tablets.

“I bought over one hundred tablets for kids who are in need, so if you or anybody that you know is in need of a tablet, please to let me know,” remarked Shenseea on her Instagram platform.

Also known for sultry music videos. Dovey received a lot of backlash for her comment but she has stuck to her guns reiterating the good Shenseea did. Fair enough she can’t do the same thing, however, she is not as well off as the Blessed artist.

“Weh she do is very good. Me nuh need fi post weh me do from weh mi nuh do. Shenseea donate 100 tablet; mi know seh if mi fi talk weh mi do from before even quarantine start or the people dem weh get help, dem nah go have a problem with what the f**k I said.”

To be fair to other Jamaican artists Shenseea is not the only one who gives generously to charity. This COVID-19 pandemic has had its negative effects all over the world and people have stood up. Dr Marcus Rashford of Manchester United FC petitioned for legislature change to help youngsters receive lunch in less privileged areas and his actions should work as a blueprint to all. Shenseea’s gesture is just another act of Ubuntu and community and as Dovey Magnum said let’s hope the privileged do take notes.

The good karma has a way of coming round and it may manifest in sales as Shenseea gears up to drop her maiden album in 2021. In a recent interview on America’s Hot 97 radio station, the Shengyen Boss alluded to her upcoming album, tipping off a March release.

“We’re hoping for March, I’m hoping for February because I just really wanna release this. I’ve never released an album before, I wanna see how well it’s gonna do. I wanna see how people gravitate to the different kinds of music I’m putting on there. Hopefully, we’re really aiming for March they say.”
