After a long week of slaving away at your regular day job, it’s always good to kick back and relax. Today we take a look at a handful of reggae tracks from the past week which should act as a tonic to prepare you for the week ahead.
The tracks on the spotlight are listed below and are in no particular order and are just for review purposes.
1) Sizzla – Life Is No Game (Kalonji Music Productions)
The track barely makes the list as it has a upbeat rhythm almost making it a dancehall tune. You can almost not recognize that it is a Sizzla tune as he switches things up with a modern flow. Nevertheless it is still a noteworthy track with a strong message and as the title suggests, life is no game.
2) Gentleman – Rise Up (Don Corleon)
We slow things up with a signature sound from German born Gentleman. A perfect Sunday tune that gives thanks to Jah with Gentleman singing that “Jah jah is the way”. We look forward to an album from him as it has been more than 2 years since the last one.
3) Jah Cure – Oh Jah (Ireland Records)
Its Cure again. Jah Cure serenades us again with another classic tune for the ghetto youth. With good use of the trumpet, it makes for a good reggae tune that will definitely mellow you out upon listening. After a good year in 2019 this is the perfect teaser for what is to come in 2020.
4) Turbulence – Belief (Sky Factory Music)
Lastly we have a listen to Wall Fire Riddim. Turbulence gives his take on the riddim and showcases himself in ‘Belief‘. The powerful track gets you thinking and it would probably be a good idea to listen to the whole riddim with other artists like Triston, Onique and Realboss featuring.
