The riddim that seems to be on everyone’s lips is Black Henney Riddim from Skybad Musiq. The riddim features both established dancehall players and young and upcoming talent.
Tommy Lee Sparta recently released his lyric video for ‘Vanilla’. Upon first listen I instinctively thought this would be the stand out track on the riddim. The Spartan Boss makes his mark with a touch of the trap in what is a cool track. The trap kind of flow, does well with the riddim and also works well for 6IX youngster Daddy 1 who also features with ‘Bro Gad’.
Acegawd also made his mark on the riddim with ‘Knocka’. 23 year old Sadeki McLarthy known as Acegawd is an up-and-coming talent from Kingston. He made his recording debut with MarkX & Axio back in 2018. In his latest jam Acegawd raps about friendship. He described the track saying,
“Knocka is the name I give persons in my team, so I decided to make a song based on that. On the music journey, I saw so many so-called friends switch up so I did this song to highlight the realest.â€
Other household names that feature on the riddim are Squash with ‘Fi True’ and Teejay in ‘Badmind & Jealousy’.
The pick of the tracks is another up-and-coming talent in Propa Fade, with his take on good living in ‘Account‘. Born Nikolai Davis, Propa Fade was born and raised in Kingston Jamaica. He has had mild success with tracks like ‘Out and Clean‘ and ‘Party Shot‘.
Black Henny Riddim lays a solid platform for the youngsters to shine. With a lot of newbies with a young fanbase, the riddim is poised to get a lot of attention.
Propa Fade reintroduces himself as another serious player in the game and he is one to look out for in the future.
