Unfortunately for Gazanation’s Sikka Rymes, he will have to live in the shadows of the ‘King of Dancehall’ as long he continues to ply his trade with the Portmore connect. However, he has his moments where he bosses the industry with club bangers. Dubbed Gazanation Vice President, Sikka Rymes seems to have seized the reins as president with a string of hit tracks. With a commanding screen presence, Sikka has had a string of notable music videos for his newer singles. These include 1 Day, Gyal Run Down Me and 8 O’Clock. His latest video for Punching Bag has amassed over 100k views just 3 days after its release on Youtube.
Punching Bag had its audio release a month ago and the single continues to trend in Jamaica. The video follows the success of his last video Heavyweight alongside Vybz Kartel. This time Sikka stands alone with the premise of him running the streets. And to be fair, it does make sense, due to Kartel’s incarceration. Always paying tribute to his incarcerated cousins Vybz and Shawn Storm, Sikka delivered another club banger for the Gaza faithful.
Born Javian Chambers, Sikka Rymes has his unique gangster story after taking 3 bullets last December following a performance. Having fully recovered physically, Sikka has excelled in his songwriting and music and has claimed a dining spot with other current dancehall heavyweights who include Popcaan, Busy Signal and Chronic Law. His most successful 2020 hits include Gaza Run Di World, Incredible, Loyalty, Street Light and Ready. Often paired up with Vybz Kartel, it’s easy to overlook Sikka Rymes’s contribution to the game. But, be rest assured ‘cousin Sikka’ is making a good name for himself with quality music.
Vybz Kartel will continue to have relevance in the industry, but, do not forget who is with the people in the streets. Kartel will not be leaving prison anytime soon so you may as well get on the Sikka Rymes bandwagon. Big up Javian Chambers. He sounds and looks a lot like Vybz anyway.
