Sean Paul Francis Henriques, born 9 January 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica, is a dancehall singer, rapper, and record producer. He came from a family line of gifted swimmers and that made him join water polo. He was in the national water polo team from the age of 13-21 years old. Sean Paul later dropped water polo and began his music career. Jeremy Harding met Sean Paul when Sean had gone to his studio seeking advice. Harding’s brother had heard of Sean Paul at an open mic session. Sean began spending more time at the studio which led to them doing several collaborations. As his career grew, Harding assumed a number of roles for Sean as his manager, security guard, and even road manager. In the film Belly, Sean made a cameo appearance and in addition to that, his collaboration with DMX and Mr. Vegas on “Top Shotter” was the soundtrack for the film. His second album Dutty Rock had successful singles like “Gimme the Light” and “Get Busy”. Between 2004-2017, he was nominated for 7 Grammy awards and won Best Reggae Album in 2004. Other than the Grammy Awards, he has won at least 18 awards in various categories between 2003-2017 respectively.
Sean Paul married his long-term girlfriend Jodi Stewart in 2012. The couple has 2 children together.
