Darrio Johnson, born in Deeside Trelawny, Jamaica, is a dancehall and reggae artist who had a very strong musical background because both his parents were firmly rooted as such. Darrio’s interest in music as a career had heavy influence from as young as 7 years old when he moved to Kingston with his mother and he was found in mix parties, concerts, and social gatherings. His involvement in bigger social get-together meetings such as national competitions and community events aided the growth of his profession. Darrio was gifted with crowd-pulling performances and always kept his audience fixated such that DJ Billy facilitated his 1st appearance at Sting 2005 though, for a season, Darrio had to settle for a normal 9-5 job till his big break came. In 2007, Nocturnal Productions’ Richard Burt met the star and orchestrated more interaction between Darrio and the public via shows and interviews because he had seen his passion for music which led to his 1st single ‘Shub Out.’ In their search for a proper studio to record, Burt approached Natural Bridge Studio where household names like Natalie Storm, Tifa, Timberlee, Ward 21, and the talented, Konshens who became very close with Darrio till to date. His 1st overseas trip was under Konshens’s influence. They have been seen working together professionally and personally. Darrio has had various tours since 2010. Included as one of the early music videos was the track ‘Fed Up’ released in April 2013. Since then he has been unstoppable with more YouTube music videos in 2017-2020. The current title tracks with videos include ‘Chisel It,’ ‘We Rise’, and ‘Thank God I’m Living’ done by Dotta Coppa featuring Darrio.
