Despite the fact that Vybz Kartel was incarcerated and is serving a life sentence his legacy has basically been sorted as he passed on the singing torch to his sons. Time will tell on the levels they will reach but they have kicked off their career on a high note. Formerly known as PG13, the duo of Likkle Addi and Likkle Vybz just released their latest EP titled Skinny Jeans. Now known as Uptown Greatness (UTG), Tanesha and Adija Palmer’s kids have stuck to the family genre.
Produced By Short Boss Muzik the EP was accompanied by the release of their latest video, Hear Dem. After watching the video I can no longer reference them as kids. Still teenagers the boys seem to have a very grown up lifestyle, showcased by the video set in Paris. Children do learn what they live and here it’s a case of flashy cars, lots of cash and excuse my French, bitches. The video has them hosting a house party with scantily dressed broads as they count their stash of euros. Textbook Vybz. The apples certainly didn’t fall too far from the tree. On that note the song is a banger as well. The duo’s future looks promising.
The EP also features other tracks including their earlier release Skinny Jeans, Magneato and Paid in Full. The album is a mix of tracks they did together and singularly. Likkle Addi boasts having Dolla Sign, Zara Man and What You Gonna Do while older brother Likkle Vybz has Couldn’t Careless. Vybz does leave his stamp on And She Promised and Magneato. However, I wonder if that was the only contribution from Da Teacher as the youngsters do spit some heavy bars that are Kartel-esque.
The Palmer domination in dancehall continues with an added dimension and Vybz can be very proud of his sons. Check out Skinny Jeans tracklist:
