Step aside Mr Burna Boy and make room for Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid. When you look at African icons that dominate the Afro scene you should look no further than Wizkid and Burna Boy. The two Nigerian heavyweights have dominated the music industry for the past five years and seem to be getting better like wine. To be fair Burna has held the mantle for the past year or so with his exemplary album Love Damini. Which has dominated the charts, but, I fear that time of dominance may be coming to an end. As Wizkid has announced he will be dropping an album in November titled More Love Less Ego. Having already dropped the first single off the album titled Money and Love the track awaits a music video which would be released soon.
It seems like an age since Wizkid’s last album Made In Lagos in 2020 and Wizkid fans (including myself) eagerly await the album drop. Following his appearance as a celebrity guest at the Emerge Fashion Week in Qatar alongside other top stars, Wizkid went on to stamp his authority in a snapchat message saying;
“I can stop touching the mic today and y’all lil n*ggas still can’t touch the wealth! Even if you ask your dad and mom for help #moreloveLessEgo #EveryBody’sDaddy.
“Also soon. I’ll open a class for u n*ggas to come learn how to get all you deserve with less work and smart business choices.
“Moving forward! Y’all address me as Sir or daddy before you mention my name! Ok babies!.”
More love and less ego? Really Wizkid? These comments don’t bode very well with your supposed message. Either way, we still love you. Pencil in November 4, 2022 in your calendar and let us see what Naija’s Wizkid has in store for us.
