Busy Signal Having A Stellar Year

busy signal having a stellar year

If people are not talking about the emergence of Koffee, or Shenseea’s sexuality, the one artist who has silently progressed making quality music this year has to be Busy Signal.

Taking nothing away from Popcaan or Vybz Kartel who constantly churn out bangers making the headlines, Busy Signal seems to get overlooked. The Turf Boss has had a pretty good half year and has released a wide range of cuts.

From featuring on Kingston riddim with ‘What is a Friend’, ‘Stay So’, ‘Dem Fake’, to ‘Great Men’ and ‘Got to Tell You’, Busy has displayed his versatility in both the reggae and dancehall genres. With the rise of Afro-Pop, Busy has also delved into collaborating in that genre. ‘Expensive Order’ produced by Team Salut, Afro B, and Turf Music Ent was the product, sampled from the same rhythm as Afro B’s Joanna.

Busy does not concern himself in talk about who is the King of Dancehall concerning Vybz Kartel and Beenie Man, or homosexuals place in society. He is more concerned about releasing relevant music like ‘Great Men’. The track is almost like a history lesson where he takes you back, recalling great men who have played a significant role not only in Jamaican music but the world in general.

When it comes to party jams look no further than ‘Got to Tell You’. The self-produced and self-written track showcases his versatility once again and relevance in the genre. Born Reanno Gordon, Busy broke through as part of iconic deejay Bounty Killer’s Alliance crew in the mid 2000’s.
