Mavado’s undisputed talent recently came to the fore with the release of ‘Keep Going Up’. The track features on AMG Riddim which also has a few other noteworthy tracks worth mentioning.
The riddim is well subscribed and challenges the recently released One Way Riddim which had the Portmore and Montego Bay artists. The riddim produced by DJ Frass Records features our top pick from Mavado, with Alkaline in contention along with Moyann, Jahmiel, Kranium, Ding Dong and Sashie Cool.
After a short hiatus Alkaline has stepped up lately in his last few releases. The Vendetta Boss is grabbing the right headlines in producing good music like ‘Nothing Nuh Change’ and ‘Flashback’. He flows on this riddim with ‘Mama Pray’,another uplifting track with a similar message to Mavado.
Kranium comes in with ‘Tempted to Touch’ which has a sentimental title similar to Kevin Lyttle’s 2004 hit with the same name. He doesn’t necessarily outshine Kevin Lyttle’s version but it will still get you nodding your head in the club.
Moyann represents the ladies with ‘Fren Dem Good’ mixing it up with her vocals with the track also featuring Ikel Marvlus. She is clearly living her best life and kicks on this year after her other features on riddims like Fresh Paint and Snap with ‘On my Mind’ and ‘Boss Up’ respectively.
Jahmiel sings “dem never reel from threats” in ‘Cambio’ in another hard hitting track. Ding Dong is all about ‘Making di Money’ on the catchy rhythm. Another top pick which was more of a surprise package was Sashie Cool who delivers ‘Fresh Out The Box’. As the title suggests he comes with a fresh take on the riddim representing the Vendetta crew.
The appealing rhythm is your typical dancehall beat that should be a hit in the club. 2019 is heating up as artists who have been rather quiet this year are stepping up. The mix is a good listen and is a good follow up to One Way Riddim from Hemton Music/ Attomic Records.
